Renewable Energy, Mental Health and Addiction Votes

(March 17, 2008)

Mike Thompson voted For the Renwable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act of 2008 [H.R. 5351], which passed 236 to 182, with 11 not voting. If it becomes law the bill would repeal some tax deductions fro the oil and gas extraction industries, then use the money to pay for renewable energy or conservation tax credits. It even allows a tax exclusion for bicycle commuting.

Representative Thompson also voted Yes on the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act [H.R. 1424], which passed 268 to 148, with 12 not voting. If this act becomes law it will require employee health plans to give the same coverage for mental illness that they give for physical illnesses.
